If you have ever played any of the Build-a-Lot series (Build-A-Lot, Build-A-Lot 2 Town of the Year, Build-A-Lot 3 Passport to Europe or Build-A-Lot 4 Power Source) you will be very comfortable with the game Be Richer. While there are some differences making Be Richer a unique game, the close game play and similar strategy to the Build-A-Lot games cannot be denied.
There are 40 levels where you need to achieve specific neighborhood goals ranging from constructing specific buildings or a certain number of buildings to raising your total town rent value to an expected level, to even bank rolling so many dollars in account.
Everything from construction to upgrading buildings is very simple in Be Richer. The game follows a “tycoon” style strategy where balancing incoming rent dollars vs. outgoing building or upgrading expenses becomes the name of the game. Be Richer being more of the financial tycoon style game puts more emphasis on stores and income than the Build-A-Lot series giving Be Richer some uniqueness in its game play.
While there are only a handful if things making Be Richer not a total copy cat of Build-A-Lot games, many of the core game play principals are comfortably familiar making the play very entertaining. Simple construction placement, simple building upgrades and the concept of “builders” or “construction workers” are all very similar to the Build-A-Lot series.
Final Thoughts: This was a great game if you already like this style of game. Even with the 40 levels I was able to beat the game pretty quickly, but, there was certainly enough challenges that kept me stuck to the game until all 40 levels were mastered!
